The picture which has been described as indecent went viral and many Ghanaians condemned her for the actions.
Akuapem Poloo explained the reasons behind her actions and indicated that she was sorry. But it seems the apologies of Akuapem Poloo was not enough for the laws of Ghana.
Poloo was paraded before the Accra Circuit Court over the publication and she has been going through trial for the past months.
On April 14, 2021, Akwapem Poloo appeared before the court presided over by Mrs. Christiana Cann. In court, Akuapem Poloo pleaded guilty for her actions.
Following her plea of guilt, the court convicted her and postponed final sentencing to Friday, April 16, 2021. The reason is to allow her to undertake a pregnancy test.
But what will happen to her on Friday is still unknown to the public. Already, many Ghanaians have been calling on the court to temper justice with mercy and free the actress with a warning.
For now, it is only the presiding judge who can determine the fate of Akuapem Poloo. However, she is likely to go through the following two punishments.
Made to pay a fine
One of the possible sentences that await Akuapem Poloo on Friday will be to pay a fine and go away. This is a sentence many Ghanaians who have offended the law go through. They are given a penalty unit to pay or serve a jail term. This option is likely to hit Akuapem Poloo on Friday.
Serve a jail term
Akuapem Poloo might also be thrown into jail or any other confined location to serve a custodial sentence. This is a mandatory sentence where she will be made to serve a number of days in any of the prisons scattered across the country.
Some legal brains have argued that since Akuapem Poloo pleaded on her own guilt, she might be offered a lesser number of years (from one day to three years).
